THE COMPETITION COUNCIL SANCTIONS TEN DISTRIBUTORS OF AUDIOVISUAL PRODUCTION FOR THE PROHIBITED AGREEMENTS (2010-01-28)
The Competition Council passed the decision concerning the compliance of actions by a number of companies manufacturing and trading in audiovisual production with the requirements of Article 5 of the Law on Competition of the Republic of Lithuania.

MR. JONAS RASIMAS HAS BEEN APPOINTED TO THE OFFICE AS A CHAIRMAN OF THE COMPETITION COUNCIL (2010-01-07)
As the Press Office of the President of the Republic of Lithuania announced, the President Dalia Grybauskaitė signed a Decree by which Dr. Jonas Rasimas, the current Member of the Competition Council has been appointed as a Chairman of the Competition Council of the Republic of Lithuania. As it is published in the announcement, the President has commissioned the new Chairman to strengthen and reform the Competition Council in a way it will be able to fight against cartel agreements and monopolies and to ensure conditions for fair competition in all economy sectors

WARRANTY MAINTENANCE MORE FAVOURABLE TO VEHICLE OWNERS (2009-12-29)
The Competition Council of the Republic of Lithuania resolved to discontinue the investigation concerning the compliance of the actions of vehicle traders in relation to the requirements to perform the technical maintenance of vehicles covered by warranty in authorised service stations only with the requirements of Article 5 of the Law on Competition and Article 101 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. The resolution was passed by the Competition Council having taken into consideration the circumstances of material importance – a number of undertakings suspected of the infringement, namely, Hyundai Motor Baltic Ltd, UAB Inchcape Motors, Renault Polska Sp. Z. o. o., JV UAB Lautra Motors, Toyota Baltic AS, UAB Autotoja, UAB Tokvila, Honda Motor Europe Ltd., UAB Veho, Saab Automobile AB, and UAB Piliakalnis autocentras – submitted to the Competition Council the information and evidence of the termination, by their own free will, of the actions allegedly infringing the requirements of the Law on Competition and the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. Furthermore, the entities submitted to the Competition Council their written obligations to refrain from such actions in the future, or perform the actions with a view to eliminating the alleged infringements or preventing any such violations in the future.

THE DAILY "ŠIAULŲ NAUJIENOS" ENGAGED IN PROHIBITED COMPARABLE ADVERTISING (2009-12-17)
The Competition Council passed the Resolution concerning the advertising statements published in the daily “Šiaulių naujienos“ by UAB Šiaulių naujienos in which certain data of the daily and competitors was compared. The daily “Šiaulių naujienos“ was publishing a number of advertising statements, such as: “Objectivity of press publications in Šiauliai”, “Reliability of press publications in Šiauliai”, “The most readable paper in Šiauliai”, “Most demanded press publications in Šiauliai”, wherein using graphs the daily compared a number of papers and noted: „The survey conducted by the market analysis and research group UAB RAIT in January 2009”, or “*112 respondents interviewed. Maximum error up to 8.5 percent. The survey conducted by the market analysis and research group UAB RAIT in January 2009”. These advertising statements by the daily "Šiaulių naujienos” were recognised by the Competition Council to constitute items of prohibited comparable advertising.

COMPETITION COUNCIL: THE INVESTIGATION MATERIAL RETURNED FOR ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATION (2009-12-14)
Having thoroughly assessed the circumstances and evidence established in the course of the investigation and having considered the statements presented by the parties to the proceedings during the sitting, the Competition Council decided to return for additional investigation the case concerning the undertakings engaged in wholesale trading in medicines, medical products and equipment and the compliance of the activities of such undertakings with the requirements of Article 5 of the Law on Competition of the Republic of Lithuania and Article 101 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (ex. Art. 81 of the Treaty establishing the European Community).

A LTL 23.3 FINE FOR A MISLEADING ADVERTISING OF AN APARTMENT (2009-12-03)
The Competition Council resolved to recognise to constitute an instance of misleading advertising the statement posted in the website of UAB Oslit, on ww.oslit.lt, claiming “A three-unit 9-storey residential building under construction” and “total 208 apartments designed”. UAB Oslit was obligated by the Competition Council to discontinue the use of the misleading statements where such actions were still continued. UAB Oslit wassubjected for the use of misleading advertising to a fine of LTL 23,300.

SCHIBSTED BALTICS AS AUTHORISED TO IMPLEMENT CONCENTRATION (2009-11-26)
Having concluded that the intended concentration deal will not create a dominant position or any significant restriction of competition in the relevant markets the Competition Council passed the decision to authorise Schibsted Baltics AS to implement the intended concentration deal by acquitting the 100 percent holding of UAB Žurnalų leidybos grupė according to the notification submitted to the competition authority.
