COMPETITION COUNCIL: THE VILNIUS CITY MUNICIPALITY WAS GRANTING PRIVILEGES TO VILNIAUS VYSTYMO KOMPANIJA (2010-06-10)
 
Having considered the findings of the investigation completed the Competition Council passed the Resolution concerning the compliance of actions of the Vilnius City Municipality with the requirements of Article 4 of the Law on Competition.  The Council concluded that the Vilnius City Municipality in passing the relevant decisions and concluding on the basis thereof the contract authorizing UAB Vilniaus vystymo kompanija (formerly UAB Vilniaus kapitalinė statyba) to provide building design management and construction management, as well as other construction-related services, was granting privileges to the company in respect of other undertakings operating in the relevant market by creating different competition conditions to competing undertakings operating in the same relevant market. more »
 
THE COMPETITION COUNCIL DID NOT CHANGE ITS OPINION – ACTIONS OF VILNIAUS ENERGIJA DID INFRINGE THE LAW ON COMPETITION (2010-05-06)
 
Having assessed the findings and conclusions of the additional investigation conducted having regard to the Ruling of the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania (SACL), the Competition Council repeatedly confirmed that by imposing the unfair prices in the communication tunnel lease market in the city of Vilnius UAB Vilniaus energija did infringe Article 9 of the Law on Competition and fined the company LTL 178,000. more »
 
LITHUANIAN CYNOLOGY SOCIETY SANCTIONED FOR THE PROHIBITED AGREEMENT (2010-04-01)
 
The Competition Council passed the Resolution whereby the authority recognised that the Lithuanian Cynology Society (LCS) infringed the requirements of Article 5 of the Law on Competition by establishing prohibition to its members to sell puppies with the documents issued by the LCS to natural or legal persons having an objective to resell the puppies. For this infringement of the Law on Competition the Lithuanian Cynology Society was subjected to the fine of LTL 32,300.  Also the LCS was obliged by the Competition Council to terminate the infringement of the Law on Competition where the infringement was still continued. The Competition Council also obligated the LCS to repeal the obligation set forth in the Regulations on dog breeding in respect of breeders within one month from the sale of a puppy to submit to the LCS’s Secretariat office copies of the documents certifying the sale of the puppy to a new owner. more »
 
THE VILNIUS CITY MUNICIPALITY OBLIGATED TO REPEAL THE RESOLUTION INFRINGING THE LAW ON COMPETITION (2010-04-01)
 
The Competition Council passed the Resolution whereby the authority recognised that Items 1 and 3.1 of Resolution No. 1-1342 of 20 September 2006 of the Council of the Vilnius City Municipality "On the obligation to the private company Grinda to provide the mandatory services" infringe the requirements of Article 4 of the Law on Competition. The Vilnius City Municipality was obligated within the established period (3 months) to repeal the Items of its Resolution recognised as infringing the requirements of the Law on Competition and terminate the contracts on the provision of compensated services concluded between the Vilnius Municipality and UAB Grinda. more »
 
CHAIRMAN OF THE COMPETITION COUNCIL JONAS RASIMAS: THE LENIENCY SYSTEM YIELDS FIRST RESULTS AND BRINGS ABOUT HOPE FOR THE FUTURE (2010-02-18)
 
Today the Competition Council for the first time in its history resolved to grant immunity from a fine to the undertaking that was the first to submit the information on participation in the prohibited agreement. The undertaking took advantage of the possibility available according to the leniency program enforced by the Competition Council for participants of prohibited agreements to avoid imminent sanctions for the hardcore infringements of the Law on Competition. more »

MR. JONAS RASIMAS HAS BEEN APPOINTED TO THE OFFICE AS A CHAIRMAN OF THE COMPETITION COUNCIL (2010-01-07)
 
As the Press Office of the President of the Republic of Lithuania announced, the President Dalia Grybauskaitė signed a Decree by which Dr. Jonas Rasimas, the current Member of the Competition Council has been appointed as a Chairman of the Competition Council of the Republic of Lithuania. As it is published in the announcement, the President has commissioned the new Chairman to strengthen and reform the Competition Council in a way it will be able to fight against cartel agreements and monopolies and to ensure conditions for fair competition in all economy sectors more »
